Sidebar

The sidebar holds connections, their objects, and the SQL you have saved or run. Mod-b collapses it to a column of connection dots and opens it again, unless the SQL editor has focus, where Mod-b is Go to matching bracket.

Views

  • Explorer: workspaces, connections and their objects.
  • Queries: saved .sql files, with New query and Filter saved queries.
  • History: every run, grouped by day. All or This connection, the Failed and Rolled back filters, and Search SQL or connection. Selecting a run opens its SQL without running it. A run kept with its passwords taken out opens with a notice saying so, and each password reads <redacted>.

Workspaces and environments

  • The Workspaces heading has Connect, a crosshair that reveals the active table, Collapse all and Refresh connected databases.
  • A workspace is a named, coloured group of connections: New workspace, Edit workspace, Remove workspace. Removing one that holds connections asks Remove workspace?, then Confirm removal with its name typed. An empty workspace asks once, with no typing.
  • Connections sit under environments. If one of the environment's words is prod or production, its connections open read-only by default.

Connection menu

Right-click a connection: New SQL editor, Add connection here, Edit connection, Refresh connection metadata, then Connect when it is offline or Reconnect and Disconnect when it is not, Unlock connection or Lock connection, Delete connection.

On launch and on every reconnect the tree draws the catalog it saved last time, marked Showing the last-known catalog. Refreshing…, and swaps in the live one when the server answers.

Explorer tree

  • Under a schema: Tables, Views, Materialized views, Sequences, Types, Functions, Procedures, then Schema reports with Columns, Indexes and Constraints. A folder of MySQL or SQLite counters reads Auto-increment. Extensions is listed once per connection, after the schemas.
  • Under a table: Indexes, Constraints, Triggers, Rules when there are any, Access except on SQLite, and Partitions on partitioned tables. The caret folds the table on one click; clicking the name opens it.
  • Right-click a table for Open table, Open in split, New query on table, Show in ER diagram, Copy name, Copy CREATE TABLE, Count rows, Copy as and Pin in picker. Right-click a schema for Open ER diagram, New schema design, New query in schema and New table.
  • Drag a table onto a pane to open it there, or into an editor to insert its name.

Filter

Filter tables and objects keeps matching names and opens their parents. Esc clears it. Show system objects in Settings adds pg_catalog and information_schema.
