Seqora is a desktop app for looking at a database and understanding what you see. It draws the plan the planner chose, puts a page behind every table, index, sequence and function, and shows the schema as a diagram you can change. It opens every connection read-only, so looking is safe and writing is a decision.

The first ten minutes

Open the app. The first screen is Start with the sample database, with Explore the sample and Connect a database.

Explore the sample opens a bundled SQLite database called Sample coffee shop. It needs no server and nothing to install, and it is the quickest way to see the grid, the explorer and the object pages. Because it is SQLite, the Plan tab there shows estimates without timings, and the pages are the SQLite set. The commerce sample in this Guide is a PostgreSQL database, which is where everything is visible.

Connect a database takes a connection URL or a host, port, user and password. A PostgreSQL, MySQL or MariaDB URL already on your clipboard shows up on this screen as Connect to … from your clipboard, and a server listening on a local port that no saved connection covers is listed under Suggested, such as PostgreSQL on localhost:5432. The connection opens locked, and Connect explains the lock and how to lift it. Why is this query slow? is the first page to open once you are in.

Once you have saved a connection the screen reads Nothing open and lists Recent connections instead, with the sample gone from the lead row.

The sample every page uses

Every page of this Guide uses one database, the commerce sample the home page's demos show, so you never have to re-learn the tables. Its schemas are crm (customers), identity (login accounts), commerce (stores, orders, order items), catalog (categories, products), billing (invoices, payments, events) and audit (the change log).

The plan numbers come from a 12-million-row copy of that sample. When a page says the planner expected 612 rows and found 206,880, that is the copy talking. A smaller copy gives the same plan shape with smaller numbers.
