Keyboard and the command palette
Read this if you'd rather keep your hands on the keyboard, or a shortcut did something you didn't expect. Every command in Seqora is in the palette, and the ones you use every few minutes have a key.
Use the palette
- Press
⇧⌘Pon macOS orCtrl+Shift+Pon Windows. The title bar'sOpen commandsbutton does the same. - Type a few letters of what you want, for example
diagramortimeout. - Press
Enteron the highlighted entry.
The box reads "Type a command or setting", and it means both. Commands cover editors, tables,
diagrams, panes, connections, workspaces, the terminal, updates and feedback, and each shows its
shortcut. Settings are searchable too: type rows kept and Rows kept per result comes up
without opening Settings. Change a setting… browses them all.
Once you type, the palette also searches the database. orders finds commerce.orders and
every view, function, sequence or type with a page of its own, along with connections and the
saved queries in your SQL library. Enter opens the table. → shows its other actions:
Open in split, New query, Copy name. ⌘↩ or Ctrl+Enter opens a result in a split
from the keyboard.
With the box empty, Recent lists the five commands you use most, and the rest follow in their
groups. Custom commands appear here too, under their own group.
On macOS the same menus sit in the system menu bar, with their current chords as key equivalents, so a remapped shortcut shows there too. Windows keeps the menus in the title bar.
Default shortcuts
⌘ on macOS is Ctrl on Windows. The pages under Every panel write that as Mod, so
Mod-p is ⌘P or Ctrl+P. These are the defaults, named as Settings › Keyboard lists them,
and every one in the first block can be remapped.

In the data grid, Space opens the value inspector on the selected
cell, F2 edits it, and Delete stages a delete of the selected rows. ⇧⌘F or
Ctrl+Shift+F is Find in loaded rows, and ⌘G or Ctrl+G is Go to column.
Search table data puts the cursor in Filter rows. Shift-click a column header to add a
secondary sort, and ⌘-click or Ctrl-click a foreign key to open the row it points at.
Inside the SQL editor, ⌘E selects the current statement, ⌘/ toggles a line comment, ⌘G
is Go to line, ⌘H is Find and replace, ⌥↑ and ⌥↓ move a line, and ⌘D is
Add cursor at next match. Ctrl for ⌘ on Windows throughout.
See every shortcut
- Press
⇧⌘HorCtrl+Shift+H.
Keyboard shortcuts opens with every binding in groups: General, Workspace,
Command palette, Data grid, SQL editor and ER diagram. Type in Filter shortcuts to
find one by action or key. A shortcut you've changed is marked Customized.
Customize shortcuts… takes you to the place to change it.
Remap a shortcut
- Open Settings with
⌘,orCtrl+,, and chooseKeyboard. - Click the shortcut beside the command. It reads
Press keys…. - Press the new combination.
Esc cancels the recording. A shortcut must include ⌘ or ⌥ on macOS, Ctrl or Alt on
Windows, so that it never swallows ordinary typing. Function keys are the exception. A plain
letter is refused with "Include ⌘ or ⌥ so the shortcut doesn’t interfere with typing.", or
"Include Ctrl or Alt" on Windows.
If the combination is taken, Seqora names the owner, for example "Ctrl Shift E is already used by “Open ER diagram…”. Try another combination.", and keeps listening so you can try another.
Each row has Reset to default. Reset all shortcuts at the bottom asks Reset all shortcuts?, says how many customised shortcuts go back to the platform default, and puts every
one back when you click Reset.
The built-in terminal
Ctrl+` opens the terminal on both platforms. On macOS that is the Control key, not ⌘.
The same key closes it again. The shell, font and scrollback are in Settings › Terminal. More
on Terminal.
Caveats
⌘PorCtrl+Popens the table picker. Seqora does not print.- The surface with focus gets its keys first. Inside the SQL editor
⌘DorCtrl+DisAdd cursor at next match,⇧⌘Dduplicates the line,⌘Bjumps to the matching bracket and⌘Fis the editor's own find. Click outside the editor and the same keys split the pane, toggle the sidebar and filter the grid. ⌘Winside the terminal is stillCtrl+Wfor the shell on Windows, and with no tab open the key does nothing. It never quits.- The fixed shortcuts can't be remapped. Settings › Keyboard shows a conflict when two bindings share a chord.
- On a keyboard layout where the backtick key needs a dead key,
Ctrl+`may never arrive. RemapOpen terminalto something you can press. - A custom command can declare its own
shortcut:in its YAML file.
